French Club:  French Club is going to a cafe!!!  Bring in your FIELD TRIP FORM BY THIS FRIDAY (we have a meeting)!  SPACE IS LIMITED!

French 6:  Today, students continued to practice saying what hurts and how they feel.  We talked about other people's feelings as well (He is sick, he wants to go home, etc...).  We played charades and Pictionary with written reinforcement.  The vocabulary is here: HOW TO SAY WHAT HURTS/ SICKNESS. Be sure you have added "My throat hurts (J'ai mal à la gorge)" to your personal note sheet.

HW:  Study for tomorrow's quiz.  If you didn't finish SPELL for J'ai mal and for "I am sick", you still can do that for 85% of the credit.  If you do well on tomorrow's quiz, I will replace last week's formative assessment if you had trouble with it.

Here are some practice questions for the quiz.  I HIGHLY recommend trying them.

What's wrong with you? My ears hurt and my shoulder hurts.
I am sick and I am tired.
My throat hurts and I want to stay in bed!
Everything hurts and I don't want to go to school!
What's the matter?  Nothing.  Everything is going well.

French 6:  Today students practiced for tomorrow's speaking assessment.  The best way to practice for this at home is to go over the sentence starters HERE and to review vocabulary pronunciation of these OBJECTS.

After we practiced, we went over the words for some: du/de la/des .  The first two are singular (m/f) and the third is plural.  Then we talked about the words for "the."  They are: le/la/les/l'.  We will do more with this shortly.

Finally, we began the new topic of parts of the body.  We sang "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Feet," and we learned a French fold song called, "Do you know how to plant cabbage?"  The body part page and songs can be found HERE.

Homework:  Practice for the speaking assessment.

French Club:  We voted on the tee-shirt design contest today.  If you weren't here, you can vote HERE through tonight.

French 6: We had a singing contest with the song, "Dans ma salle de classe."  The winner is... THIRD PERIOD.

Today, students practiced a range of vocabulary, and we had an open-note formative which can be found HERE..  Students who finished went on to try more difficult sentences, such as:

a.  There are 15 binders in my backpack!
b.   I have some scissors, some glue, and some tape in my (mon) locker for you.
c.  Do you want a student desk or a teacher desk?
d. – What do you want? - I want a classroom with a whiteboard, 25 tables, and 25 chairs.
e. Do you have my pencil?  Where is my pencil?

Homework:  Required - Please do spell for the sentence starters HERE.. This will help you study for Tuesday's speaking assessment.  Be able to say what things are located where ("In my backpack, there is a...") and what you want for your birthday. If you want extra practice, you might try Gravity for this set.

Suggested:
You can also practice pronouncing the OBJECTS to help with pronunciation.

French Club:  We have a meeting tomorrow morning.  We will vote on the tee-shirt design.  They are already posted on the French Club page, but voting is not open yet.

French 6:
Today we practiced the question, "Qu'est-ce qu''il y a dans ta salle de classe?" or "What is there in your classroom?"  We also asked, "What is there in your binder, your locker, etc..."

We practiced saying, "I have... but I want..."  This is "J'ai... mais je veux...."

I gave out a page of new vocab notes.

Homework: 1.  Study for Tuesday's speaking assessment.  Be able to say what things are located where (In my backpack, there is a..." and what you want for your birthday.  If you want practice with these sentence starters, they are HERE.  You can also practice pronouncing the OBJECTS.

There is an
optional extra credit homework to practice the new expressions.  Students will earn 10 extra homework points.

If you forgot to do yesterdays' work, scroll through the flash cards for
EXTRA EXPRESSIONS.  I would set the options to see both French and English.  Then do match ten times.  Don't forget to log in.

French Club:  We have a meeting on Friday morning.  We will vote on the tee-shirt design.  They are already posted on the French Club page, but voting is not open yet.

French 6:
Today we practiced the question, "Qu'est-ce que tu veux pour ton anniversaire?" or "What do you want for your birthday?"  We transitioned to "Qu'est-ce qu'il y a dans ta salle de classe?" or "What is there in your classroom?"

We talked about adding the letter "s" to make most words plural in French (cinq classeurs) but that words ending in "eau" get an "x."  For example, you can say "cinq drapeaux."

We listened to the song, DANS MA SALLE DE CLASSE which can also be found on the "OBJECTS" page.  Keep practicing and your class might earn chocolate.

Homework:  Scroll through the flash cards for EXTRA EXPRESSIONS.  I would set the options to see both French and English.  Then do match ten times.  Be sure to complete the work TONIGHT as I check it early in the morning.  Don't forget to log in.

NOTE:  If I talked to you today about extra work, remember BonjourMadame 500.

My hero and inspiration,
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

January 15, 1929 - April 4, 1968

"Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the noble struggle for equal rights. You will make a greater person of yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live in."    - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s “Theory of Relativity” to serve. You don’t have to know the Second Theory of Thermal Dynamics in Physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.”   - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
