French 6:  Today, I went over the details of the French-Speaking World project.

Students worked on the country/region RESEARCH by using the French-Speaking World, Five Countries, and The Project page.  The project page has links to websites that are useful for the research.  Students will also have to find out WHERE A VARIETY OF COUNTRIES ARE LOCATED.

Students have a paper copy of the project information.  Once students have chosen a project, they need to get the sheet signed by a parent.  It was due today but I said I would also take it tomorrow.

Homework:  Talk over the project (above) with a parent and get your project sheet signed.  It is due.  If you are ready to turn in your "link," you can go to the Food Page, the Collage Page, the Song Page, or the Painting Page.

Students who wish to work on research at home to share with the group tomorrow may do so.

French 6:  Today, we went over the WHY TAKE FRENCH article, and students wrote their FAVORITE REASONS.

Students received their RESEARCH groups and found out what country they will be researching.

There are three webpages for this unit:  The French-Speaking World, Five Countries, and The Project page.

I also handed out project information.  Once students have chosen a project, they need to get the sheet signed by a parent.  It is due tomorrow, but I will take it Friday if students need more time to decide.

Homework:  Talk over the project (above) with a parent and get your project sheet signed.

Most students were out for the Wonder field trip.  I am posting yesterday's work in case you still need to look it over:

________________________________________________________

French 6:  In period 1, we had to do a schoolwide password reset.  This took most of the period.  I am posting the presentation we were given in case any students didn't complete the password reset.  It is HERE.

Today, we began our new unit about the French-speaking World, or Le Monde Francophone.  We talked about all the reasons for taking French, and I gave students an article explaining all the benefits of being a French speaker. Students highlighted their favorites and we discussed them as a group.

For students who want to check out information about the French-Speaking World, click HERE.

Homework:  Tomorrow is a field trip!  First period students, please look over the packet and highlight (or star) one or two reasons per section that make you say YES - this is a great reason to take French!

Everyone else, see you Wednesday!

French 6:
Today, we reviewed the days of the week in French.  We learned a song and practiced some dialogues.  We learned how to say, "one day..."   For example:  Un jour, je veux aller en France!

After break, we will begin a project on the French-speaking world.  Start thinking about what type of project you'd like to do: cooking, painting, singing, a poster (need to be able to print).

*****: Students who still have not completed
THIS PERSONALISED VERSION OF THE REVIEW GUIDE should do so tonight.  Star the ones you wish to study and complete spell, learn, or write.

I am posting some practice scenarios from class.  You can try to say them in French, and then the second slide shows the answers.  If you are viewing this in an email, you may have to go to the blog to see the slides.

French Club: Our field trip is tomorrow at 3:3o if you signed up!
There is a cheese tasting in December.  The form is HERE.

French 6:  Students had all period to day to work on their review guides for next week's unit test.

I gave out a paper copy of the review guide for all the terms on the unit test.  There are 206 terms, but many are repeats and many are words the student know very well (colors, family members, etc...)

Students went over the review guides and covered the French words.  For words they didn't know, they highlighted them on a paper copy.  For words they knew but misspelled in their heads, they "starred" them.  They then took this information and created a personalized review guide by STARRING the flash cards on THIS PERSONALISED VERSION OF THE REVIEW GUIDE.

Homework:  Use your  paper REVIEW GUIDE to create a starred version of your own THIS PERSONALISED VERSION OF THE REVIEW GUIDE.. Then practice these until you know them really well.  Use SPELL, LEARN, or WRITE.

OR

OPTIONAL BONUS:  You can do SPELL for the entire online QUIZLET REVIEW GUIDE FOR UNIT 2.
If you complete this by SUNDAY NIGHT, you will get 120 points on a HW assignment.

French Club:  There is a French Club meeting tomorrow at 8:00.

French 6:  Today in class, students took a quiz on colors.

We began to talk about review.  There is an electronic copy of the review guide for all the terms on the unit test.  There are 206 terms, but many are repeats and many are words the student know very well (colors, family members, etc...)

We had a some computer issues in class, so Period 1 had a different lesson than Periods 2 and 3.

In Period 1, students used Quizlet to pick out the vocab words they know and don't know to create a personalized study guide.  For students who did this, don't worry about completing it.  You can either take a look at the Period 2 and 3 work, or you can wait until tomorrow.

In periods 2 and 3, students went over the review guides and covered the French words.  For words they didn't know, they highlighted them on a paper copy.  For words they knew but misspelled in their heads, they "starred" them.  They can then take this information and created a personalized review guide by STARRING the flash cards on THIS PERSONALISED VERSION OF THE REVIEW GUIDE.

Homework:  If you want to finish starring and highlighting your REVIEW GUIDE on paper, you can do this at home.  This will give your more time in class.  If not, you will do it tomorrow..

OPTIONAL BONUS:  You can do SPELL for the entire online QUIZLET REVIEW GUIDE FOR UNIT 2.
If you complete this by SUNDAY NIGHT, you will get 120 points on a HW assignment.

NOTE:  The Unit test is on Thursday of next week.  French Club is this Friday at 8:00.,

French 6:  Students practiced colors today and listened to the RAINBOW MAN song that can be found on the color page.

We learned how to talk about eye color:  Il a les yeux blleus / verts / marron
We learned how to talk about hair color:  Il a les cheveux blonds / bruns.

Homework:  Study for a mini color quiz.  You should be able to write the colors and also answer the question:  Quelle est ta couleur préférée?  Ma couleur préférée est le./l'___________.

You can practice for this by going back over yesterday's Quizlet on colors.  This is not required.

My French 6: Students practiced how to talk about name and age of family members today.  They learned how to ask, "Do you know my...?"  This is "Tu connais mon/ma,,,?  They answered, "Oui, je connais ton/ta..." or "Non, je ne connais pas ton/ta..."

We learned some fun description words:  grand(e)/petit(e)/brun(e)/blond(e)/sympa/pénible/ beau/belle.

Homework:  There is a quiz tomorrow on family and age.  You can find a complete Quizlet study guide
HERE. My suggestion is that you "star" the words you want to study and pick the study set that's best for you.

NOTE:  The family and age quiz is on Tuesday, 11/7.

French 6: Because of JA, there were several different lessons going on today.  For students who had JA Tuesday or Thursday, they did the folllowing:

1.  They made quiz corrections.

2.  They went to QUIZLET and opened NAME AND AGE – 6th Grade.  They went through all the flashcards once. Then they did spell.

The rest of the class either studied more on their own or came to the front and worked on complicated sentences with me.  Here's an example:  There is a boy in my class who is 12 years old and who is sick, and he wants to go home because he has a headache, he's tired, and he doesn't want to stay at school.

Homework:  If you started the NAME AND AGE QUIZLET in class this week and didn't finish it, please do it tonight. There will be a 5 point bonus for anyone who finishes by Saturday night (even if you did it yesterday).

Everyone: Be sure you know all the
FAMILY VOCAB and AGE EXPRESSIONS.  You can still practice FAMILY WORDS on quizlet.  The quiz is Tuesday.
