In loving Memory of Courtney Mogan Doyle
June 20, 1990-May 1, 2008

How can I answer this question posed by countless students and parents over the years
as they walk, delighted and astonished,
into a secret corner of Paris tucked
away in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia?

My answer is always,
"No. I did not do this myself."
And yet, there is so much more to say.

I only hope my words will be enough
to relate what is in my heart.

Courtney's Café at Hopewell Middle School

August 2006 at Milton High School began like any other school year.  When I looked out at that sea of faces in French 1 so many years ago, I had no idea that one teenage girl would change my life and the life of each and every French student who walked through my door.

That’s just the thing.  You don’t know.  And it matters.

They all come to you with something.  Sometimes it’s in their backgrounds and sometimes it is something yet to be.  But they all have the ability to inspire and be inspired.

My hero and inspiration,
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

January 15, 1929 - April 4, 1968

"Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the noble struggle for equal rights. You will make a greater person of yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live in."    - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s “Theory of Relativity” to serve. You don’t have to know the Second Theory of Thermal Dynamics in Physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.”   - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
